Rolliman Meets „ Thompson Square“

Mein Konzertspätsommer bzw. Herbst ging weiter.

English Version:

Rolliman Meet’s „Thompson Square“

My concert-late-summer (respectively autumn) continued. This time in the form of a concert by US country duo „Thompson Square“. The couple Shawna and Keifer from Nashville were touted as newcomers in the German Country Media. However, if you have been in the business for more than twenty years, already had several top-ten-hits in the Country-Charts and had appeared in the „Grand Old Opry“ – then you definitely do not count as a newcomer – you are already a big player in the music business!

The duo played at the end of their first tour of Germany in the small Cologne music club „Blue Shell“, and since it was not even full, I had already considered whether the two would even occur. But there was a really good-humored couple of musicians on stage, who immediately and from the first sound left no doubt that they wanted to thrill the hall. When the two noticed that the audience was singing their songs, the artists shot two more tunes up again. One of those evenings was created which left a lasting impression on both, the artists and the audience.

The musical brain of this duo is undoubtedly the husband, guitarist and songwriter Keifer, who was in a good mood, and took on the role of a comedian. There was almost no break between the songs, where in between he told a personal anecdote about him and Shawna. Shawna, is rather the reserved part of the duo, she has a fabulous voice that is almost too strong for country music.

My personal highlight was her cover version of the Johnny Cash classic „Jackson“. They gave this oldie their own touch. But also their own songs like „Masterpiece“ were great.
They even played a song that a fan had wished before the concert via Whats App! The duos treated the cancer story of Shawna’s father. She afterwards was very emotional for a few minutes and shed some tears.

All in all, it was a very harmonious and very successful evening. The two artists did not become tired of promising to return to Germany. Should the two again occur in the Cologne area, they will have to be content with my presence in the audience…
